Travel to Ajmer

Travel to Ajmer brings you to eastern part of Rajasthan to a city that is a major center for Muslim pilgrims. The Dargah
For tourists and people alike, Ajmer is synonymous with the Dargah of Khawja Muinud-din Chisthi. Located at the foot of the barren hill, the Dargah Sharif, as it is popularly known is one of the most important pilgrimage center for Muslims. It is the tomb of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti who came to Ajmer from Persia in 1192. The shrine was built by Emperor Humayun while the massive gate structure was constructed by the Nizam of Hyderabad. The outer casing of the tomb has a marble dome while the actual tomb inside is surrounded by a silver platform.

Ana Sagar Lake
The Ana Sagar Lake is an artificial lake that was created back in the 12th century by damming River Luni. Enjoy the beautiful Daulat Bagh gardens that are built on its bank and contain a series of marble pavilions erected in 1637 by Shahjahan.

Taragarh Fort
The Taragarh Fort was built by Ajaipal Chauhan and lies 3 kms behind the Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpra mosque. Visit the fort to enjoy breathtaking views of the city.

The Museum
An erstwhile palace built by Emperor Akbar, the imposing building has now been converted into a grand museum and showcases an amazing collection of stone sculptures, old weapons, and miniature paintings.


Nasiyan Temple
Nasiyan Temple is a Jain Temple that was constructed in the 9th century. The double storey hall of the temple contains a fascinating series of large, gilt wooden figures from Jain mythology that depict the Jain conception of the ancient world.
