A lot of fanfare takes place during the fairs and festivals of Rajasthan. Most of the festivals consist of plenty of enjoyment and celebrations. They are popular tourist attractions in the state. Travelers and tourists who come to these festivals have an experience of the local culture and tradition of the state. Plenty of musical and dance performances are held during these festivals.
Pushkar Fair: One of the greatest fairs in India, Pushkar Fair is held every year in the small town of Pushkar. The fair takes place between the months of October and November and goes on for a period of 5 days. Wide spread celebration takes place during the Pushkar Fair. Around 20,000 people participate and thousands of tourists from all over the world come here to have an experience of the rich Indian culture and tradition.
Camel Festival: The Camel Festival of Jaisalmer is also a major attraction in Rajasthan. Around 50,000 camels participate in the camel festival. The camels are adorned with colorful garments and jewelries. A camel market is also held where various types of camels are sold at moderate rates. Other than camels, domestic animals like bulls, cows and horses are sold at affordable rates as well.
Elephant Festival: It is held in Jaipur in the occasion of Holi. Elephants are decorated with jewelries and they are bathed in colors. A beauty show for elephants is also organized.
Marwar Festival: It is held in Jodhpur in the month of October. Organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, the festival is a blend of music and dance. You can get a feel of the local tradition and culture by taking part in the festival. Well known local music and folk dance events are also held.
Other than these, other fairs in Rajasthan are Mewar festival, Gangaur festival, Urs festival and others.
